Sławomir Kowalewski

He graduated from Faculty of Vocal and Acting at Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, in Maciej Witkiewicz’s class. He took part in master classes held by Stefania Toczyńska (Vienna), Marek Rzepka (Hanover), Thomas Heyer (Frankfurt), Helena Łazarska (Vienna) and Iwona Sobotka (Paris). He won prizes at many international competitions, such as X International Vocal Competition “Golden Voices” in Warsaw (special prize and Grand Prix), Giulio Perotti International Vocal Competition in Ueckermunde in Germany (II award) and Jakub Pustina Internationtal Vocal Competition in Jihlavie in Czech Republic (II award). In 2013 he was holder of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education scholarship.

He was working with Warsaw Chamber Opera and Baltic Opera. He performed with many orchestras, such as Sinfonia Baltica and Pomeranian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. In 2015 he performed the title role in “Eugene Oniegin” by Czajkowski at Young Opera’s Forum (he won III prize for this performance). In 2016 he sang Markiz Posa in Verdi’s “Don Carlos” at Opera Nova – in 2017 he won Kiepura Theatre Music Award for “the best opera debut”.

Since season 2016/2017 he is working at Opera Nova and singing those parts:

  • Figaro in "Il barbiere di Siviglia" by Rossini
  • Falke in "The Revenge of the Bat" by Strauss
  • Marullo in "Rigoletto" by Verdi
  • Count Almavive in "Le nozze di Figaro" by Mozart (2017, dir. W. Adamczyk)
  • Mr. Ford in "Falstaff" by Verdi (2017, directed by Maciej Prus)
